How to create a WhatsApp link

    Choose your country and type your WhatsApp number. Local format is fine — the tool adds the country code and removes the leading 0, spaces and dashes.

    Optionally write the message you want customers to start with, such as “Hi! I'd like a price for…”.

    Copy the wa.me link, or copy the HTML if you're adding it to a website.

What a WhatsApp link looks like

WhatsApp's click-to-chat links use the format https://wa.me/<number>. The number must be in full international format: country code first, with no plus sign, leading zeros, brackets or dashes. A Sri Lankan mobile number 077 123 4567, for example, becomes https://wa.me/94771234567.

To pre-fill a message, add ?text= followed by the URL-encoded message. Spaces become %20 and symbols like & and ? are encoded too — the generator does this for you so the link doesn't break.

Do I include the + or country code?

Include the country code but not the plus sign. Pick your country in the tool and type your local number; it builds the correct international format for you.

Can I make a WhatsApp link without a phone number?

Yes. https://wa.me/?text=your%20message opens WhatsApp with the message ready and lets the person choose who to send it to. It's useful for share buttons, but not for contacting a business.

Do WhatsApp links expire?

No. A wa.me link keeps working as long as the number is registered on WhatsApp. If you change numbers, generate a new link.

Can I track clicks on a WhatsApp link?

wa.me links don't include analytics. Some businesses place the link behind their own redirect or link shortener to count clicks, then use a pre-filled message to see which campaign a chat came from.
