How to send a blank message on WhatsApp
- 1
Click “Copy blank character”, or choose how many blank lines you want and copy them.
- 2
Open a chat in WhatsApp and paste into the message box.
- 3
Tap send. The message appears empty to the other person.
How it works
WhatsApp trims ordinary spaces and line breaks, so a message made only of spaces can't be sent. This tool uses U+2800, the Braille Pattern Blank character. It displays as empty space but counts as text.
Because it relies on how WhatsApp treats special characters, results can change between app versions.
When a blank message is useful
- Adding visual spacing in a long message or status
- Testing whether a chat, link or automation sends correctly
- Starting a new chat without a greeting
Frequently asked questions
Is sending a blank message allowed?
It's an ordinary Unicode character, so it's just text to WhatsApp. Use it considerately — repeatedly sending empty messages can annoy people and get you reported.
Why doesn't a normal space work?
WhatsApp removes leading and trailing whitespace, so a message of only spaces is treated as empty and the send button stays disabled.
Does it work on WhatsApp Web?
It generally does, on Web, Android and iPhone, but WhatsApp can change how it handles special characters.
