The short answer

How to share your screen without showing your WhatsApp chats

Blur WhatsApp Web before you start sharing. With WhatsApp Web open, a screen share shows every customer's name, photo and last message to the whole meeting. Without a tool, share one window instead of the whole screen, and keep WhatsApp in another window. With InboxCRM, one click blurs names, avatars, previews, messages and media, so you can still walk through your board, and one more click turns it off afterwards.

Why InboxCRM fits this

InboxCRM blurs names, avatars, previews, messages and media in WhatsApp Web with one click.

See it working before you install

The privacy blur tutorial runs on a practice copy of WhatsApp Web in your browser. Nothing is installed and no real customer is messaged.

Step by step

How to share your screen without showing customer chats

Two ways to do it. The first needs no extra software.

With WhatsApp alone

  1. 1Share a single window or tab, never the entire screen.
  2. 2Move WhatsApp Web to a separate browser window before the call.
  3. 3Turn off desktop notifications for the meeting, so previews do not pop up.
  4. 4Close the WhatsApp tab if you do not need it during the call.

With InboxCRM

  1. 1Before the meeting, turn on privacy blur.
  2. 2Names, avatars, previews, messages and media are hidden on your screen.
  3. 3Walk through your pipeline board as usual.
  4. 4Turn the blur off when the call ends.
Add InboxCRM to Chrome

What this does not do

  • Blur changes what is shown on your screen. It is not encryption and it does not change stored data.
  • InboxCRM runs in desktop Chrome on WhatsApp Web. It does not work in the WhatsApp mobile app.

InboxCRM is an independent product and is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.

Common questions

Does blur delete or change my chats?

No. It only hides what is displayed in WhatsApp Web on your screen. Turn it off and everything looks as before.

Is it useful outside meetings?

Yes. Use it in a shared office, at a shop counter, or when somebody is looking over your shoulder.

Does blur protect my data from the extension itself?

Blur is a display feature. Data storage is a separate matter: InboxCRM keeps CRM records in your own browser, with no server copy.
