The short answer

How to remember customer details on WhatsApp without scrolling up the chat

Write the detail down once, in a place that sits next to the chat. Sizes, budgets and past orders are usually spread across a long thread, a notes app and your memory, so you end up asking again. With WhatsApp alone, star the message that holds the detail. With InboxCRM, each customer has a profile beside the open chat: private notes, tags and your own custom fields, all visible while you type your reply.

Why InboxCRM fits this

InboxCRM keeps notes, tags and custom fields in a panel beside the open chat.

The notes and contact profile tutorial runs on a practice copy of WhatsApp Web in your browser. Nothing is installed and no real customer is messaged.

Step by step

How to remember customer details without scrolling up the chat

Two ways to do it. The first needs no extra software.

With WhatsApp alone

  1. 1When a customer gives a size, an address or a budget, star that message.
  2. 2Open the starred messages in that chat when you need it again.
  3. 3For regular customers, save the key detail in the contact's name, for example "Nimal - size 42".
  4. 4Before you ask a question, check the starred messages first.

With InboxCRM

  1. 1Open the chat. The chat-tools panel slides in beside it.
  2. 2Write a private note with what the customer told you.
  3. 3Add tags you can read at a glance, such as budget or area.
  4. 4Create custom fields for the things your trade always needs, such as a size or a grade.
Add InboxCRM to Chrome

What this does not do

  • Notes are stored in your own browser. They do not appear on your phone.
  • InboxCRM runs in desktop Chrome on WhatsApp Web. It does not work in the WhatsApp mobile app.

InboxCRM is an independent product and is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.

Common questions

Can the customer see my notes?

No. Notes are private and are stored locally in your browser. Nothing changes on the customer's side.

What is a custom field?

A field you define yourself for a detail you record for every customer, such as a shoe size, a grade or a delivery area.

What happens to my notes if I change computer?

Export a backup file from InboxCRM and restore it on the new computer. Without a backup, notes stay on the old device.
