The short answer

How to move your WhatsApp CRM to a new computer without losing your data

Export one backup file on the old computer and restore it on the new one. InboxCRM stores your CRM records in your own browser and keeps no server copy, which is private, and also means the backup is your job. The backup file holds your pipelines, notes, quick replies and schedules. Restore it in InboxCRM on the new computer and your boards come back. Turn on the weekly automatic backup so a recent copy always exists.

Step by step

How to move your WhatsApp CRM to a new computer without losing your data

Two ways to do it. The first needs no extra software.

The moving-day checklist

  1. 1Before you change computer, export a backup file from InboxCRM.
  2. 2Copy the file to a place you trust, such as an external drive.
  3. 3Install InboxCRM in Chrome on the new computer and open WhatsApp Web.
  4. 4Restore the file. Check your board and notes before you wipe the old computer.

With InboxCRM

  1. 1Open Backup from the InboxCRM sidebar.
  2. 2Export your CRM data to one JSON file.
  3. 3On the new computer, choose Restore and select the file.
  4. 4Set a weekly automatic backup so you do not have to remember.
Add InboxCRM to Chrome

What this does not do

  • A backup is a copy, not live sync. Two computers do not update each other.
  • The CRM backup file is separate from chat backup, which keeps a copy of chats and media.
  • InboxCRM runs in desktop Chrome on WhatsApp Web. It does not work in the WhatsApp mobile app.

InboxCRM is an independent product and is not affiliated with, authorized by, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp or Meta Platforms, Inc. WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc.

Common questions

Where is my InboxCRM data stored?

In Chrome's local extension storage on your own device. InboxCRM does not keep a server-side copy of your CRM records.

What is in the backup file?

Your pipelines, notes, quick replies and schedules, in one JSON file that you can restore on another computer.

Is there a cloud option?

For chats there is an optional cloud chat backup. It is encrypted on your device before upload and the key stays in your browser.
